Accident by Danielle Steel

This novel tells the story of Page Clarke, whose life is shattered the night her daughter,Allyson, has an accident and lands in coma. She learns of the infidelity of her husband. Her marriage is wrecked. But help and support will find her,in an unlikely way...

Danielle Steel writes in a very realistic way , portraying Page's confusion as well as her helplessness to help her daughter. She is trying to understand how she let her marriage go down the drain. Now this is something very common after the break-up of a relationship:you want to understand because you were not ready to be thrown out of it.here's the realism I mean to stress. These questions and emotions are felt by all those who have loved and been left midway by the other party.

Steel also shows the desperation and helplessness of a mother.Page is vulnerable but she has hope. She believes that her love and devotion will pay off and that her daughter will awake from her coma. This is a lesson to all of us:we should always hope for the better, even during dark hours...If you are an eternal optimist like me,do read this novel. And if you are not, read it just to know what it feels like to believe in good times...

Origin in Death - Nora Roberts writing as J D Robb

This novel starts with the murder of Dr Wilfred Icove Sr's death in his medical facility.Dr Icove is a reconstructive and cosmetic surgeon and the year is 2059.Lieutenant Eve Dallas and Detective Delia Peabody,as well as a team of high profile experts(including Roarke,Dallas's husband),try to unravel the mystery surrounding this death and others which follow subsequently.

Here is a novel which deals with the uses and abuses of cloning.Nora Roberts is imaginative and projects us in a future where everyone wants to be perfect:intellectually or physically. From hair extensions to A+ in applied physics, you name it,you can have it!With a nice price tag , of course!!

What impressed me the most in this novel is the main character:Eve Dallas.Unlike her namesake, this Eve is not very feminine. She swears, acts tough, dresses un-femininely,does not have any feminine reflexes, check this out:this chick literally has to be forced by her pals to go to a beautician.Despite all this, she lands herself Roarke,a to-die-for hunk who is rich as Cresus, sensitive, endearing and totally bowled over by her.I really hope that this guy is what the future has in store for us,nice chicks and dudes...

You Belong To Me by Mary H Clark

In this novel,Susan Chandler,a radio presenter and ex-prosecutor,deals with the disappearance of Regina Clausen on her show.A caller to the show claims to have been approached ,aboard a cruiser,by a man who gave her a ring with these words engraved on it.Soon new links appear which make the ring look like the prime element in solving this case.

This novel is by the queen of suspense thrillers herself,I give to you,Mary Higgins Clark.Ms Clark is one of my favorite writers. This is a lady who knows what she is writing:there's serious research behind each novel,a well-constructed plot, tangible emotions and very credible characters.

The main theme of this novel is loneliness:about how women who are, outwardly, to be successful encounter difficulties in relating to others romantically and about the man who preys on these women. Here Ms Clark is warning us,gullible chicks,to be wary of smooth talkers as we could pay for it by our lives...This is an A1 read ,people.Grab it if you can!!

Here are the lyrics which have influenced the killer in this novel:

You belong to me by J Wade
See the pyramids around the Nile
Watch the sun rise
From the tropic isle
Just remember darling
All the while
You belong to me
See the market place
In old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember
When a dream appears
You belong to me

And I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too

Fly the ocean
In a silver plane
See the jungle
When it's wet with rain
Just remember till
You're home again
You belong to me

Oh I'll be so alone without you
Maybe you'll be lonesome too

Fly the ocean
In a silver plane
See the jungle
When it's wet with rain
Just remember till
You're home again
You belong to me

Master Of The Game by Sydney Sheldon

Kate is a very successful businesswoman who has an empire stretching from one end of the world to another. She portrays success and strength but behind this facade, she is a very lonely lady who has been born out of revenge and who controls those around her to be the "master of the game".

Well so much for the synopsis!!Now to the juicy stuff!!you see the guy laughing??That's Sydney Sheldon. He is,without any doubt, one of the best writers in the world(I mean fiction here people!!).I would even say that sydney Sheldon is God(okay, calm down Loona!!).This guy writes from a female view point but still conveys a very phallocratic image of the world. His characters are ,mostly, innocent, naive women ,who, due to circumstances ,have to corrupt themselves to survive.

This novel, which covers a period of 100 years, has been adapted to television in the 80's.The reasons why I will recommend it are as Sheldon is a genius in his art and Kate, the female protagonist, bears the weight of the whole novel on her own shoulders.Kate is manipulative, remorseless, resourceful and intelligent(she also happens to be a libran!!astrological kinship!!).One thing I remember from this book is the way Kate manipulates her love,David, into leaving his fiancee to be with her.He even vows to stay with her for ever.Kate is an example to all of us(ladies and gents) who are not ashamed to say that we are happy being bad and manipulative. So,people, hunt this book down and read it.

PS: Feeling manipulated??I'm the master of this game!!

Sally written by Freya North

Sally is a 25-year-old school teacher who decides, out of the blue,to change her life!!From mousy school teacher to mega sex bomb, femme fatale...Her guinea-pig is Richard-a hunky guy who is just loooking for a one-night stand with Sally and ends up falling in love with the dear girl. But things get interesting when Richard declares his eternal love and his beloved flees to France. After many hilarious situations, Richard finally catches her and is accepted by his belle.

'Sally' is Freya North's first novel and it deals with the female fear of commitment(yes people!!That really exists!!).It appealed to me,at first, because of its cover(a cute, feminine pink) and also as i have been there(and I'm still there). This is a very fresh and innovative author who does not hesitate to lead her main male character through tests and trials and who supports the whims and tantrums of Sally. Many a times, while reading this novel,i have pitied Richard and i have laughed at Sally's antics.A lovely, invigorating read!!People, this novel's a sure bet!!!

Going Home by Danielle Steel

Well here we have the first novel written by Danielle Steel. It was published in 1973 and according to me,this is one of the most brilliant insights in a relationship. The novel starts with the meeting of two individuals who feel instant attraction towards each other. But human relationships being fluctuating, betrayal and infidelity leads the female protagonist(Gillian) to flee her love.Pregnant and lonely, she clings to her child and tries to thrive.Unexpected events and strong emotions lead Gillian back to her love. And she will finally learn to deal with loss and live with it.

This novel really touched me to the highest degree as it gives a true insight in a relationship. The male protagonist is not the perfect stud who remains faithful through and through to his girl.On the contrary he is flawed:unfaithful, egoistic, bad mannered, indecisive. As for the female protagonist, you will have to try very hard to refrain from telling her that she is bloody stupid to love a guy who cheats on her, hurts her, chases her away from his life and literally tells her to suppress her feelings for him.But readers, who among us has not clung to such a person??Unconditional love, some will say.Passion??Madness??Or sheer pigheadedness??Why not read this novel to decide for yourself??
